Entering the trails in The Arboretum, I was taken with this bent old tree, seemed like a character from a movie... |
The bridge, as seen from another trail... |
Bright daubs of color amid the brush... |
Unbelievably blue sky... |
Light on the trees rendered them pure white, while the sky began to darken in the east... |
Darkening stormy sky, while sun still shining on the trees. I loved the dramatic effect here, shot on the bridge.... |
Another angle of the same scene... |
Ghostly shots of the trees as the sky darkened further. So dramatic it felt like a Wagnerian opera, and very exhilarating... |
Another shot as that dramatic sky started to rumble... |
Delicate but lively colors here with the sun on them and dramatic dark sky. This is my favorite shooting weather... |
Dark green, light green, traceries of limbs and water........ |
Close up of same scene. There was a man standing quietly fishing, just out of my shot... |
Shot across the waterside trail, where it goes out over the water... |
Raining lightly with thunder in background. Was struck here by the layering pattern of branches against the sky... |
Captivating mix of brilliance and deep, dark sky. Taken from a lookout tower on the waterway trail... |
The lookout tower, of carved wood, with wild wood in background... |
The trail back was absolutely deserted. It is kind of haunting, and makes me think of the book, My Antonia, by Willa Cather... |
Sun emerged again from the west again, to create brilliance beside the trail... |
Struck, amongst all of the emerging fertility of the beginning of Spring, to see this vulva shape in the earth. Named this shot Gaia Vulva... |
Closeup version of Gaia Vulva... |
Another angle of this beautiful and interesting fertility symbol, not 3 feet from the trail's edge... |
Deepening of colors and shadow, sun sinking, but still shining its radiance, playing out from behind the clouds and trees... |
Rain started in earnest, and light failing, but enchanted by the strong, silent and solid presence of the trees. I felt they could begin speaking in whispers... |
Rained out at last, watching the drops fall from the car window... |
Reflecting and watching the rain. |
My god, Linda, you are such an extraordinary photographer. Every single one of your photographs pulls me in. Including the self-portrait. Every single one of them is like a candle. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. For slipping beauty under my door while I was looking the other way. For being my friend and showing me the world you see. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tessa! I am really touched, and so honored that something I love to do has the power to touch others as well. That is what I want most in this world.
